About Pete
Pete Witte embodies the philosophy of the "everyday athlete with big goals." A Marine Corps veteran based in Nashville, TN, Pete proves that elite endurance results are possible while balancing a demanding schedule of graduate school and professional work.
His entry into the endurance world was rapid and relentless. After completing his first marathon at the 2023 USMC Marathon, Pete quickly transitioned to the trails. By July 2024, he had finished his first 100k, and his 2025 season became a masterclass in consistency and grit.
That summer, he secured podium finishes in two diverse events: taking 2nd place at the Hell Mary 100 Miler in Tennessee and 2nd at the "Last Mountain Man Standing" in Conifer, CO, a grueling event where he navigated ~25 miles of vertical punishment and a close mid-race encounter with a moose. He capped off the year with a testament to sheer resilience, fighting through the flu to capture 2nd place at the Natchez Trace 50 Miler in November.
For Pete, running is a vehicle for connection and adventure. He prefers getting to know people over miles rather than drinks and maintains a flexible training base that allows him to say "yes" to spontaneous challenges, like his recent July 4th run of the Maroon Bells Four Pass Loop. You can usually find him training on Nashville’s greenways, Percy Warner, Shelby Bottoms, and the Harpeth River, often accompanied by his dog.
